Istanbul

The history of this magnificent city goes back to the 7th century BC. Istanbul is the only city in the world built on two continents, split by the shores of the Bosphorus. As capital of three empires, it is a unique link between East and West, and the Past and Present. But Istanbul is not only a historical place; it is also a fascinating and vividly alive city. Beneath the beautiful skyline there is a continual bustle of the crowd, the rumbling of the vehicles along the ancient cobbled streets, and the screams of venders in the streets competing with the sounds of ships in the busy port.

Aegean Region

The western shores of the Aegean region present one of the most lovely landscapes in Anatolia (Turkey today). The magnificent coastline is lapped by the clear water of the Aegean Sea, and lined with beautiful beaches, rocky bays, and green wooded shores. There are numerous attractions and historical sites in the region, ranging from the modern metropolis of Izmir to the charming port of Ayvalik; the ancient ruins of Aphrodisias and Hierapolis that lie by the thermal pools of Pamukkale; Kusadasi with its sandy beaches; Bodrum and its pretty white houses clustered before a medieval castle; and Marmaris with its red tiled houses along the shore of limpid blue water.

Antalya Region

This colorful southern region with 300 sunny days a year, clear turquoise waters, secluded coves, rocky headlands, and broad bays fringed by sandy beaches is the ideal place for swimming, sailing, and other water sports. Many legends are about this historical coast, and the remaining ruins of ancient cities, theaters, and a crusader castles just emphasizes the rich past of these former civilizations. Be sure to discover: Antalya with its broad bay; Side with its ancient city in the middle of two long sandy beaches; and Alanya with its unique Seljuk fortress strategically positioned up on a craggy promontory overlooking the Mediterranean waters.
